over to concord. we have a 10 to 15 minute wait at the toll plaza. the metering lights laid down and there are no problems on the bridge. it still looks good from vallejo to panola, same thing with fremont, traffic looks okay. let's go to steve. >>> napa airport and oakland downtown hit 68 degrees and not today, there is a little bit more in the way of coastal low clouds and also some patchy fog and santa rosa is clear. there is a slight component of an offshore breeze and 30s for many of us, 31 up in bolder creek, cupertino 33, 34 up in kentfield. there is some cold readings which is slightly cooler than yesterday. you can see a little bit of that fog right there and that was not the case yesterday. fog sun mild coast and bay, i think that fog will get chewed up pretty fast. 50s to mid-60s, it may be warmer and santa cruz fremont in there as well. not much change and warmer weather kicks in thursday into friday and the weekend is starting off well, it will just be a little bit cooler. >>> the number of homeowners who are late on mortgage payments continues to drop. the delinquen

an apartment fire in concord this morning. kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington tells us why investigators think a fireplace was to blame. >> reporter: a scary way to wake up for a woman and two daughters, among six families rescued by firefighters when the neighbor's unit went up in flames. >> i opened my door. we live on the second floor and saw this huge fire right in front of us. >> reporter: the two alarm fire started just before 7:00 in an upstairs apartment on tioga street in concord. flames burned to the downstairs unit up to the attic. you can see the entire roof is missing. firefighters say the woman who lives here was just trying to stay warm on a chilly morning. >> this is a gas fireplace. she had issues friday night, shut it down, tried to restart it this morning because of the cold weather and the fire ignited possibly into the walls behind the fireplace. >> reporter: nobody was hurt and the flames were contained to two apartments. it's not over for residents like clark who can't go home. power was shut off for safety. >> no water, no power

in concord that gutted a second story unit on tioga road. barbara dell is live at the complex and joins us now. crews did a good job of containing the fire. >> reporter: kept it from spreading much further. the fire department has left within the past hour. the fire is out, the residents are safe and most of the evacuees have been allowed back inside to their homes here. this after a fire ripped through one of their neighbor's units early this morng. now, the fire department tells us the woman who live there is is very lucky she made it out unharmed. >> the good thing is that the homeowner had a working smoke alarm. it woke her up this morning and saved her life. >> without it? >> without it, she probably would have at least needed rescue and may have even killed her. >> reporter: the fire department believes the fire was accidental. that it started around a gas fireplace in that unit just before 7:00 this morning. they are still trying to figure out what was the source of ignition. the fire destroyed her unit, damaged the unit below and next door. when the fire department arrived, the fir

trend. concord and santa rosa in the mid-to-upper 60's and san francisco about a degree warmer. in the south bay, 63 to 65 degrees is the range with san jose in the middle at 63. 62 at millbrae and 64 at half moon bay, the cooler spots, and 62 at ocean beach. and downtown san francisco at 64 this afternoon. east bay sure, oakland is the warm spot at 68. fremont is a cool spot at 65. 62 at pittsburg and 65 in dublin and 359 in carmel and low-to-mid 60's for the rest of the bay and headed inland. tonight, low 40's in oakland and 43 in san francisco. how long will the a warm weather hang around? thursday and friday away from the coast we will be pushing 70 and saturday and sunday and the holiday on monday temperatures are cooler, but, still, very mild, and in the 60's. >> back to daly city, now, an accident southbound 280 blocking the left lane of traffic and no major slowing beyond the scene. this accident southbound 880 at whip el has been cleared with partly blocking the ramp now and it is gone and not a problem. we have a new problem, northbound 17 before lexington, an overtur

today. we'll get chilly tonight. 36 in san jose. livermore, 34. concord, 36. fairfield, 33. as you would guess, the radar. kpix 5 hi-def doppler radar. it's dry because of that big dome of high pressure has gone nowhere. if anything, it is going to move closer to us, expand in size and get even stronger and make us up near 70 degrees, get us to about 10 degrees above average by the end of this week. it's off to our west right now. we're still getting that northerly wind. mornings will be chilly and afternoons will be sunny. low 60's is average this time of year. as that high gets closer to us, on friday, that's when we will be at our warmest. even san jose may hit 70 degrees on friday. that will be the warmest day. we'll stay in the 30's at night inland. rainfall, i don't see it for this week or likely the middle of next week. san jose, exactly average, 63 tomorrow. all about the sunshine up and down the area. sonoma tomorrow, 63 with sunshine. a couple degrees milder on wednesday and thursday. friday is that warm day, approac

and livermore at 34, and 23 at -- 35 at concord, and 40 at san jose and san francisco is the warm spot at 46 with freezing cold in gilroy at 32 but ten degrees warmer in santa cruz. sunny and mild this afternoon. mostly clear and cool nights on the way. we will be warmer than average in the afternoon we will fall back to normal temperatures and 70-degrees high likely away from the coast thursday and friday. oakland will be 68 and same for santa rosa. and cooler spots are only 63 including san jose, livermore, concord and antioch and fairfield and san rafael. to the monterey bay, 61, and mid-60's around the bay and headed inland. now, tonight, possibility fog out there again, very isolated as the air dries out during the overnight hours and mid-30's to low 40's in most areas and san francisco is 45 degrees. here is what happened while you were sleeping, two areas of high pressure dominating our weather and the ridge will remain strong all week. we will see how far we can crank the thermostat up in the atmosphere, how about mid-to-upper 50's tomorrow and mid-60's to upper 60's and possibly 70

-year-old boy suffered very serious injuries when a car hit him in concord. sky 7 was overhead and it shows you where it happened. witnesses say the car hit him aroundw" zi 1:40 this afternoon. the intersection was closed for several hours and police investigated a tow truck hauled away the car. a park ranger's suv hit a woman walking in san francisco at about 3:00 a.m. at -- p.m. at a25th avenue and california street. you can see impact dented the front of the ranger's suv there. the woman who was hit was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. the investigation closed the road for about 40 minutes. there is no word yet on what caused this accident. >> ed lee said he'd take charge of a new effort to raise money for the america's cup. that is buzz taxpayers could be left with a huge bill if organizers cannot raise the $34 million needed to pay for services, transportation and clean up. so far fund raising has only come up with $14 million. it's $20 million short of what is needed. taxpayers could have to foot the bill. >> so there is pressure on our general fund if ne

hate it when people say it's so cold in the bay area. no. not today. 35 degrees in concord. 41 in oakland. 40 degrees in gilroy. throughout the afternoon temperatures are going to be mild yet again. high pressure is the reason why it builds in for today and drives winds offshore as they move from land to sea they warm along the way. they push that marine layer back into the pacific and for us that means it is just going to get better and better temperaturewise. more and more comfortable as we head through friday. developing offshore wind really starts to kick into high gear throughout today and you notice that layer of haze, that particulate matter. unhealthy levels of pollution on the way likely as we head through the the end of the week. 64 in gilroy. 63 in los gatos. temperatures will be mild for today. staying mild all the way through valentine's day and that means if you want to hit the beach, a nice romantic picnic, a bottle of wine and a blanket is all you need. saturday and sunday as well if you don't get chance to get out on thursday because temperatures and conditions
